SO glad to have a new website to share with you! I can finally BLOG and know what I'm doing. I wasn't so good on the last site, so I may need a few reminders, but this one seems a LOT easier.
This week is Valentine's Week and I have to say, I am a romantic at heart. I love all the gooey sayings, mushy movies and yummy things that go with this Hallmark holiday. David and I got married on Valentine's Day, so it's always a special day in my book. As the years go by, I have noticed my creativity for gifts gets a little less innovative, so this year I was REALLY challenged when I...
First of all, let me say HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you! As I was looking over some of my goals for last year, I realized that I did quite well with some, but with others, I failed MISERABLY. One of those was BLOGGING! So, I vow to make every attempt to be a much better blogger this year so that I can stay in touch with you. As you know, blogging is not just about me sharing my thoughts. ...
We are almost ready to send “Grace In High Heels” to press. Waiting on a few endorsements-you know, those nice things that people say about your writing after you have spent COUNTLESS HOURS of writing. What a nice way to end this journey! Stay tuned for the updates.
Lately, there have been a lot of requests coming into my office to pray for those who are sick with cancer. While this is certainly no surprise after what David and I walked through, it has really become an overwhelming need in many of the lives involved in this ministry. David and I are committed to pray for those who are struggling because we know firsthand the hardships that cancer brings. We also know that GOD is a HEALER. Read more about our story in my upcoming book “Grace In High Heels” due for release soon!
I am SO excited to share this special “Christmas story” from my latest book, “Grace In High Heels.” I hope that it blesses you as you keep CHRIST in Christmas. Enjoy!
I had the chance to preview the book cover today and it is great!!! The designer is so talented and I LOVE what they are doing so far. Ok…I’ll give you a hint. There are two things on the cover that go with two stories I tell in the conferences. One of them has been called “the most hilarious story I have ever heard.” Any guesses??
What a time I have had working on my new book. Five years ago, I had several successful authors try VERY hard to convince me to write a book. My publicist put the finishing touches on that request, and voila, a book is coming soon. The book is filled with hilarious stories and God given insights into His Word and how we can handle life with His help.
Happy December! What a great time of year. Oh, not because of the lights, stockings and gifts, but because we get to put our focus where it really counts-Jesus! Isn’t it great? For one month, the world has to hear about Jesus. They can’t help it! It’s in the songs that are piped through the mall and the Christmas cards that are sent by many. It’s His birthday, after all…so why not celebrate?
Can’t wait to sing the National Anthem next weekend at the Houston Texan’s game as they take on the San Diego Chargers. The Houston Chronicle did a really nice story on this opportunity and I wanted to share it with you! Here is the link to the online version-Go TEXANS!
Ok-so it’s almost one week away and I will be singing in front of seventy THOUSAND people…just saying. I am SO excited. I’m excited because I have the opportunity to sing in allegiance to my country. I am excited because I have the opportunity to honor my son Sean who serves our country every day. I ALSO get to hang out on the field where the TEXANS will be before the game. What more could a girl want from a football game?
Last week my sound guy of four years announced he had to leave the road. Now, I always proclaim to trust God, but this has opened up a WHOLE new world of changes where I have to put my money where my mouth is. Here’s the great part. God has already shown both Jeff (sound guy) and I that he is doing a great thing and that we are right on track.
After a week of being told dad may have cancer, they finally figured out that it was Salmonella! I have never been so happy to hear someone had food poisoning in all my life! Thanks SO much for all of the prayers that were sent our way. We are giving God ALL the glory and we know that it is because of prayer that Dad was healed so quickly.
Today is one of those days where I would rather be curled up in my bed with a good book while a candle is burning nearby. It’s rainy and dark and I am SO sleepy. Instead, I am eating a sugar cookie from my favorite bakery and pushing through my “to do” list in the office.
LOVE MY NEW WEBSITE that is so UP TO DATE! Thanks Wendell-you rock! Thanks Nathan for KEEPING me updated! God always knows JUST who we need to take care of us in the techno world. Love it, love it, love it when God sends us the BEST!
Sean called us to let us know that he took his FIRST SOLO flight for the Air Force ! We didn’t know that he was going up alone, so I am really glad that he waited to call and tell us once he was back-on the ground! Most of you know the story-he has wanted to fly since he was 6 and today his dream came true.
Ok, so my web guy has just made me painfully aware of how I forget to BLOG by listing my latests posts, so I am doing it…no more excuses!
Today I had the privilege of visiting with the host of “Pink Purse Intl.” Fey is so sweet and kept me talking for an hour. Ok…so that’s not hard to do, but keeping it interesting is, and she did a great job. If you want to check out the archive of the interview, just visit www.blogtalkradio.com/Pink-Purse-International. You can listen anytime. Leave me a comment and let me...
After being off for these last couple of weeks, I am excited about getting back out on the road and meeting new friends. I have a lot to do before I leave, so cleaning the office and upstairs closet is a must. To get some energy for cleaning, I ran to Sonic for a Vanilla Dr. Pepper. Those are the BEST! We are also beginning new updates to the website today-very exciting. Stay tuned...
Do you have a favorite pair of shoes that you LOVE to wear, so you wear them over and over and over?
I just can’t say enough about all of the sweet and wonderful people that I meet while I am out speaking and singing at the Women’s and Teen Girls’ conferences. You guys are just awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, I certainly haven’t been very good about keeping my blog updated…urrgghhh. Now my teen girls are expecting me to write, so thanks for holding me accountable guys!
Ok…I am VERY thankful this Thanksgiving for my family, the ministry, my friends, and food. AND…my round pen that just came for my horse! Since I was thrown in March and was all broken on the inside, I was “forbidden” to get back on until I got one. It came today right in the middle of shooting the video for “Bad Hair Day” on the new CD. It was chaos with kids running everywhere, camera going, and our cowboy friend from North Carolina setting up the pen-it was awesome! I love these kind of days.
Today I decided to help my husband around the house and power wash the driveway after we had some dirt delivered. He wasn’t around to help me start the power washer, so I rolled it onto the driveway and began yanking on the cord. Everytime I tried to start it, the washer would roll away from me. Ugghhh! Finally, I found this thing called a “choke” and pulled it. Aha! It started right up. As I grabbed the wand where the water comes out, I didn’t realize it would have a mind of it’s own! I pulled the trigger and all of a sudden, I began to spin around the driveway like a deflated balloon. Water was going everywhere, and the washer was pulling ME all over the driveway! It was hilarious. I was soaking wet and laughing hysterically but I could have saved myself this little incident by LETTING GO OF THE TRIGGER!
Can you keep a secret? I’m getting ready to launch my very own radio show for women! So, I need your help! What topics do you want covered? You are a very important contributor since I am just now lining up guests. What would you like to hear discussed? Be sure to let me know soon. I am contacting guests now and I want to be sure that we choose a topic that is important to YOU! Let...
You guys won’t believe this, but I’ve become a contributing writer for the women and family section of “Crosswalk.com.” I am so humbled to be able to be part of their ministry! Their visitor numbers are astounding 24 million hits per month; 3 million unique visitors per month-and there’s little me in the middle of it all! If you haven’t checked them out, please visit-and leave a comment about my latest story! I would love to read you there!
This week, my home state of Texas made national news when soldiers at Ft. Hood were viciously attacked on their own home soil. As I watched the chain of events unfold on television, I grieved deeply for the families of these brave men and women so unjustly snatched from us. Being the mother of a U.S. soldier, I felt compelled to show support for the victims. I walked to the flag pole in my front yard and silently prayed as I lowered the stars and stripes to half mast. Little did I know that during my silent time of grieving, I had received a text message that would forever impact my prayer life. It simply said, “Mom, it’s hard here. Please pray for me.”
Speaker/singer Shannon Perry kicked off her new national women’s conference this month entitled If The Shoe Fits. Perry decided to use the events to support Dress for Success, a worldwide charitable organization that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. After her first conference in the Houston area, Perry took over 200 pair of gently-worn shoes to the local Dress for Success affiliate.
Thank you so much to the beautiful ladies of Kingsland Baptist for donating over 100 pair of shoes for the “Dress for Success” organization. Not only did we have a beautiful and fun-filled night, but we helped many women who need to know the love of Jesus and who will now have shoes for their job interviews. Way to go!!
